Recap of API Month at Mapbox

Mapbox's Asian Pacific Islander (API) Employee Resource Group (ERG) undertook a series of initiatives during Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month to amplify API voices and challenge stereotypes about their community. These efforts included a video series called "Lunchbox Stories," where API employees shared personal experiences with culturally specific foods, and another series highlighting personal narratives about identity and community challenges. A Community Town Hall was organized to facilitate discussions on API identity, while cultural celebrations featured a virtual Hawaiian music coffeehouse session and a Tai Chi class to promote understanding and well-being. The ERG emphasized the importance of continuing to elevate API voices beyond May, encouraging those with platforms to support underrepresented voices.
