New road detail in Mapbox Standard
Blog post from Mapbox
Mapbox has added enhanced road details to its Standard basemap, including lane boundaries, turn arrows, lane types, stop lines, pedestrian crossings, and 3D representations of elevated roads, bridges, tunnels, and overpasses. Available at high zoom levels, the features aim to make maps more closely reflect real-world street geometry while preserving readability, helping users navigate dense intersections, understand property surroundings, explore cities, plan fitness routes, and contextualize drone operations. The details are designed as a native alternative to custom road overlays, requiring no separate tilesets or layer management, and are available in 71 major cities across 29 countries as of September 2026. Developers can enable them through Mapbox Studio or code after upgrading to Mapbox Maps SDK v11.30 for iOS and Android or Mapbox GL JS v3.30, while Mapbox 3D Lanes extends similar lane-level visualization to turn-by-turn navigation in a limited private preview.
