On October 26, 2021, Mapbox announced a significant enhancement in the resolution of its imagery covering Israel and Palestine, increasing it to 50 centimeters, which is four times greater than the previous resolution restricted by the Kyl-Bingaman Amendment. This amendment, which initially prohibited US companies from providing high-resolution imagery above 2 meters per pixel in this region, was relaxed in 2020, allowing a maximum resolution of 40 centimeters. In collaboration with Maxar, Mapbox integrated their 50 cm Vivid product into its platform, ensuring consistency with their global imagery update from late 2020. This advancement offers customers enhanced detail of buildings, roads, and natural features, useful for activities such as hiking, delivery tracking, and city navigation, and provides a unique 3D perspective when combined with terrain in GL JS v2.
