Researchers at the World Bank and OECD utilize Mapbox's Traffic and Movement data, along with the Mapbox Isochrone API, to guide transportation infrastructure planning and service availability on a global scale. Since partnering with the Development Data Partnership, which includes the World Bank and other international organizations, Mapbox has provided pro-bono access to its products to aid numerous research projects. These projects, spanning continents like South America, North America, Africa, and Europe, address critical issues such as mitigating natural disasters, enhancing transportation infrastructure, and fostering economic and social development. In Argentina, Mapbox data enabled the World Bank to analyze job accessibility and traffic congestion, highlighting the need for improved public transit and cycling infrastructure. In Lima, Peru, Mapbox data supported a 10-year urban mobility strategy to reduce congestion and improve job access. The OECD used the Mapbox Isochrone API in Europe to assess service accessibility, revealing demographic challenges and the need to bolster local services in remote areas. Similarly, in Lithuania, the Mapbox Isochrone API helped identify healthcare service gaps. The consistent use of Mapbox's location data across these projects underscores its potential in tackling some of the world's most pressing challenges, reinforcing its value to researchers, governments, and businesses alike.
