Mapbox adds 10 million sq km of new 30 cm satellite imagery

Mapbox has introduced a significant update to its satellite imagery by releasing 10 million square kilometers of enhanced visuals on the mapbox.satellite tileset, utilizing the Vivid Mosaic 30 cm imagery product from Vantor. This update significantly improves spatial resolution from 50 cm to 30 cm and accuracy from 8.5 meters to less than 5 meters, offering a more detailed and true-to-life representation of Earth, with urban developments and landscape changes such as the Las Vegas Sphere and a solar farm in Nevada more clearly visible. The updated imagery primarily covers regions with populations exceeding 500,000 and includes complete updates for countries like England, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, while also spanning large areas of the United States and Europe. The new satellite imagery is automatically accessible to all Mapbox accounts without requiring manual updates, and can be integrated into various map styles through the tileset URL.
