Introducing Natural Language Queries in the Mapbox Search Box API

Mapbox has introduced Natural Language Queries in public preview for the Search Box API, enabling developers to process multi-part place searches such as category, location, amenities, accessibility, proximity, and operating hours in a single `/forward` request. The feature is intended to support more conversational searches, including requests for dog-friendly brunch spots with outdoor seating or coffee shops with Wi-Fi that are currently open, without requiring developers to build custom parsing workflows, make separate location-resolution calls, or place an LLM before the search service. It automatically preserves existing Search Box API request and response formats, though it applies only to the `/forward` endpoint rather than autocomplete-focused `/suggest` and `/retrieve` endpoints. Mapbox positions the capability as useful for local discovery, travel, automotive, accessibility, and AI assistant applications, where structured, map-ready place results are needed. The feature is included under standard Search Box pricing and works best for supported place-search attributes rather than subjective or open-ended reasoning requests.
