Blog post from Mapbox
Turing株式会社, established in 2021 with the mission "We Overtake Tesla," aims to mass-produce fully autonomous electric vehicles. Co-founded by CEO Kazunari Yamamoto, known for developing a shogi program that defeated a master player, Turing will make its debut at the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW 2023. The company will showcase a concept car featuring in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) integrated with Mapbox, a decision driven by the ease of use and flexibility of Mapbox’s API and SDK offerings. Shoutaro Watanabe, responsible for software development, highlighted the simplicity and adaptability of Mapbox for navigation app development on iOS and Android platforms. Turing plans to explore the incorporation of 3D map displays and AI, such as voice recognition and large language models, into their IVI systems. The company envisions producing 10,000 fully autonomous EVs by 2030, viewing this as merely the beginning of their journey. At the show, Turing's booth will feature a concept car that demonstrates the company's ability to transition from software innovation to hardware development, showcasing not only a striking design but also a functional vehicle.
