Terraso, developed by the non-profit tech company Tech Matters, is an open-source tool designed to empower local communities to address climate change impacts through data-driven storytelling. Utilizing Mapbox technology, Terraso provides a no-code interface for creating interactive maps, enabling local leaders, conservationists, and various community groups to effectively collect, manage, and visualize data. This tool facilitates the communication of local landscape stories, plans, and impacts, aiding in education, funding, and common ground initiatives. By allowing users to create rich narratives with text, video, and audio without needing technical expertise, Terraso supports communities in sharing their unique environmental challenges and solutions. Examples include projects highlighting coastal protection in Guyana and land theft issues in Ecuador. Terraso is part of the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People initiative, supported by multiple global partners such as EcoAgriculture Partners and the Rainforest Alliance.
