Mapbox has recently enhanced its aerial imagery coverage by adding over 670,000 square kilometers of updated images across major cities in the US and Europe, including Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Rome, and new areas in the Baltic and Balkan regions. This initiative, in partnership with Vexcel Imaging, provides high-resolution imagery with pixel resolutions between 10 and 20 cm, significantly improving the clarity and detail of Mapbox's maps for applications such as delivery routing, trip planning, and geofencing. The updates, which began in early 2024 with over 1.2 million square kilometers of new imagery, ensure that Mapbox's satellite tileset remains current and accurate, benefiting businesses that rely on precise and realistic mapping contexts. Users can access the updated imagery through the continuously refreshed mapbox.satellite tileset without needing additional updates to their applications. Future expansions are planned to further enhance global coverage by the end of 2025.
