The Asian Pacific Islander (API) Heritage Month celebration at Mapbox highlighted the diversity and contributions of the API diaspora, bringing attention to this underrepresented community. The company hosted virtual events, including a live music session with a Hawaiian band, an API Heritage Month Virtual Trivia Game, and a showcase of uplifting API voices through personal stories and videos. Zakiya Hussein, co-leader of the API Employee Resource Group, emphasized the importance of continuing to elevate API voices beyond the month of May, as there is much to be shared by the community. The celebration encouraged allies to use their platforms to amplify API voices and support marginalized communities.
