I Tested 6 Postmark Alternatives: Here’s What I Found
Blog post from Mailtrap
Postmark alternatives evaluated include Mailtrap, Mailchimp Transactional Email, Mailgun, SendGrid, Amazon SES, and Brevo, with comparisons covering deliverability, infrastructure reliability and scalability, pricing, transactional and marketing capabilities, integrations, AI tools, user experience, security, compliance, and customer feedback. Mailtrap is positioned toward high-volume product companies seeking analytics, separate transactional and bulk streams, and support; Mailchimp and Brevo combine transactional messaging with marketing automation and design tools; Mailgun and Amazon SES suit technically experienced teams needing greater configuration flexibility; and SendGrid provides both APIs and marketing features with extensive documentation. In free-plan shared-IP tests using identical templates, Postmark achieved the highest inbox placement at 83.3%, followed by Mailtrap at 78.8%, Amazon SES at 77.1%, Mailgun at 71.4%, and SendGrid at 61.0%, though results may vary by setup and sender reputation. Amazon SES was substantially less expensive at $0.10 per 1,000 emails but requires AWS expertise, while other providers offer differing balances of pricing, dedicated IP access, log retention, analytics, support, and compliance features, including HIPAA support from Mailgun and Amazon SES.
