How to Send Emails in Ruby on Rails using SMTP and Email API
Blog post from Mailtrap
Ruby on Rails provides built-in email functionality through ActionMailer, which uses mailer classes, views, and configurable delivery methods to create and send messages. Developers can generate mailers, define recipients, subjects, HTML or text content, and regular or inline attachments, then use matching ERB templates for formatted emails. ActionMailer supports SMTP by default, along with sendmail, file, and test delivery options, and can send immediately or through other delivery methods such as background delivery. Bulk messages can target multiple addresses through recipient, CC, or BCC fields. Alternatively, email service APIs and SMTP relays, including Mailtrap, can be integrated to provide delivery monitoring, logs, alerts, and reporting, while Gmail SMTP is another supported configuration option.
