Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard that lets AI assistants interact with external applications through MCP clients, which make requests, and MCP servers, which expose available actions. Lovable supports MCP in three main ways: its MCP server allows compatible tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, and Atlassian Rovo to create, inspect, update, and analyze Lovable projects using context already present in conversations; developers can add MCP servers to published Lovable apps so users can access selected app functions from their own AI assistants; and personal connectors can bring information from Notion, Linear, Jira, or Granola into Lovable during development. The approach can reduce repeated explanation by preserving existing context, though creating or modifying projects consumes Lovable credits while read-only tasks do not. Lovable recommends narrowly defining exposed app actions, using appropriate authentication such as OAuth, limiting access based on user type, and periodically reviewing integrations to maintain security.
