Faster builds, same quality: Opus 5.5 now in Lovable

Lovable has introduced Opus 5.5, a model it says delivers quality comparable to Opus 5 while completing app-building tasks in roughly one-third to one-half fewer steps. In internal benchmarks covering new app creation, updates to existing codebases, and verification discipline, Opus 5.5 matched Opus 5 on building and code-fixing tasks while outperforming it by 4 to 6% in verification discipline across low, medium, and high reasoning settings. The model also reduced input-token use by 21 to 59% and cut output tokens substantially for iterative fixes and verification, with all reported differences statistically significant at a 95% confidence level. Lovable attributes these efficiency gains to collecting context in a single pass, making fewer but more complete edits, and verifying changes proportionally rather than repeatedly rechecking work.
