KubeCon Europe 2024 in Paris marked a significant event for the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), drawing over 12,000 participants to explore the latest in cloud-native computing. Key highlights included the release of a Cloud Native Artificial Intelligence whitepaper by the AI Working Group and updates from the CNCF’s Technical Advisory Groups, such as the Application Delivery TAG, which is launching a new Application Development Working Group to enhance cloud-native application development. Noteworthy releases included Fluent Bit's v3.0.0, featuring new filters and HTTP/2 support, and Istio's ambient mode beta release that promotes a sidecar-less service mesh architecture. The Keptn project is advancing in application awareness within Kubernetes, while the Perses tool introduced new SDKs and authentication options. Additionally, the OpenCost project expanded its focus to environmental sustainability by partnering with Thoughtworks to monitor carbon emissions in Kubernetes and cloud environments.
