Why you shouldn’t use vertical trim in Figma (yet)

Figma's vertical trim feature offers a solution to the long-standing issue of extra line height spacing in text boxes by trimming the space from the top and bottom of the text box to align with the cap height and baseline of the text. While it resolves design measurement discrepancies, it currently poses challenges for design-to-code translation since the corresponding CSS property, text-box-trim, is not yet widely supported by web browsers. As web technologies evolve, the feature could become more valuable, offering different types of text box trimming for improved optical alignment and reducing development bottlenecks. However, until broader browser support is achieved, designers are advised to use it cautiously.
