What’s new in Tailwind CSS v3.0

Tailwind CSS 3.0 introduces a host of new features and improvements, largely thanks to its new just-in-time (JIT) engine, now the default engine, which significantly boosts performance and allows for extended color support with twenty-two colors, including five shades of gray. The JIT engine also enables developers to use arbitrary properties, allowing more flexibility in applying styles outside of Tailwind's predefined design constraints. Other notable features include a comprehensive scroll snap API, new utilities for colored box shadows, multi-column layout support, and an enhanced aspect ratio API. Tailwind 3.0 also introduces new utility classes for styling native forms, fancy underline styles, and directional layout modifiers, alongside a Play CDN for easier development. These innovations collectively aim to simplify and enhance the design process, making it more efficient and flexible for developers to create modern, responsive web applications.
