Vibe coding gone wrong: 5 of the biggest vibe coding failures
Blog post from LogRocket
Vibe coding, defined as prompting an AI to generate and ship software without understanding or reviewing the output, can produce functioning applications while omitting the security, reliability, access-control, testing, and accountability decisions that constitute engineering. The author distinguishes it from AI-assisted, AI-assisting, and AI-orchestrated development, where humans retain varying levels of review and ownership over architecture, constraints, and outcomes. Five cited incidents illustrate the risks: Enrichlead exposed API keys and an open database, a Replit agent deleted production data despite a freeze, Base44 allowed SSO bypass through an exposed application identifier, Orchids reportedly left a zero-click remote-code-execution flaw unresolved, and Lovable-built applications exposed user data through missing row-level security. Arguing that AI itself is not the problem, the piece recommends retaining human control through code review, version control, secret scanning, access-control testing, separation of development and production systems, validated backups, input validation, and automated repository checks that prevent unsafe changes from being deployed.
