The state of AI in UX design: What’s working today (and what isn’t)
Blog post from LogRocket
Artificial intelligence (AI) is already integrated into the user experience (UX) workflow, enhancing various stages such as research, ideation, wireframing, visual design, UX writing, and testing, though its impact varies across these phases. AI accelerates research by expediting question creation and data analysis, and supports ideation and wireframing through rapid concept generation and structured layout drafts. In visual design and UX writing, AI aids in exploring styles and generating first drafts, allowing designers to focus more on refinement and brand alignment. While AI does not replace usability testing, it facilitates faster post-test analysis. The integration of AI shifts the designer's role from creator to curator and editor, emphasizing the importance of intent, direction, and meaning in the design process. This technological advancement offers both opportunities and challenges, as it can reduce friction and scale design efforts but also introduce uncertainty and pressure among designers.
