Maintaining UX documentation enhances design efficiency, consistency, and risk mitigation by grounding decisions in known facts rather than assumptions. However, the biggest challenge is keeping the documentation up-to-date and ensuring its accessibility and use by team members. Strategies like summarizing insights into core belief documents, regular reviews, mandatory knowledge-sharing meetings, and accessible storage methods like Confluence or Miro boards can help achieve this. While perfection in documentation is unlikely, the goal is to avoid redundant work and use insights effectively to inform design decisions, recognizing that some messiness is inevitable but acceptable in the pursuit of better user experiences.
