AI meets Apple’s HIG: Actual results from my redesign project
Blog post from LogRocket
An individual was inspired by Apple's design principles and Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) to redesign an iOS book library app, integrating AI to refine the user experience and addressing common design issues such as visual clutter and unclear navigation. The redesign focused on Apple's four key design principles: structure, navigation, content, and visual design. The original app suffered from issues like redundant actions in the tab bar and a lack of clarity in navigation and content organization. Through careful analysis and adherence to HIG, the redesign improved user orientation, accessibility, and engagement by simplifying navigation, enhancing content clarity, and using AI to refine specific elements such as UX writing and layout options. The final result was an app that felt more personal, intuitive, and inviting, leading to increased user engagement and satisfaction. The process emphasized treating AI as a collaborative tool rather than an authority, ensuring the final decisions were guided by design intuition and user feedback.
