Announcing the LocalStack for AWS 2026.10.0 Release
Blog post from LocalStack
LocalStack for AWS 2026.10.0 introduces Lambda Web Functions, enabling Node.js web applications and APIs to run locally as HTTP servers in Docker or Kubernetes without adapting to Lambda event handlers, with revisions, HTTPS endpoints, traffic shifting, hot reloading, CloudWatch logging, and CloudFormation support. The release adds native EventBridge Scheduler emulation for one-time, rate, and cron schedules, including AWS service and universal SDK targets, time zones, retries, dead-letter queues, schedule groups, and manual local triggering. API Gateway WebSocket APIs now use a shared endpoint format, with a deprecated compatibility option for per-API ports, while REST API imports, exports, validation, binary handling, authorization, timeouts, and OpenAPI setting preservation have been expanded. Additional updates affect CloudFormation Lambda file-system configurations, S3 Files mounts and metadata limits, AWS Batch job operations, AppSync VTL functions, Step Functions headers, and EC2 Docker-volume cleanup. The release removes Git URL extension installation, legacy API Gateway providers and REST implementations, and curl and binutils from the Docker image, requiring affected users to adjust extension installation methods, provider settings, and custom images when upgrading.
