Introducing Turbo, our fastest extraction tier
Blog post from LlamaIndex
LlamaIndex has released Turbo in beta, a new extraction tier designed for latency-sensitive workflows such as interactive form filling and document-driven agents. Turbo extracts directly from document pages in parallel rather than using a separate parsing pass, achieving a median processing time of 3.7 seconds per page and a Value F1 score of 0.84 on the ExtractBench schema-guided extraction benchmark, where it reportedly outperformed evaluated systems in median speed. Its per-page latency decreases to roughly half a second for medium and long documents because fixed job costs are distributed across parallelized pages, while other systems’ latency rises more sharply after about 16 pages. The company recommends Turbo for response-path tasks where speed is critical, Cost Effective for lower-cost background processing, and Agentic or Agentic Plus for complex documents and schemas. Turbo supports fewer input formats and configuration options than parse-backed tiers, is available through the Extract API, and costs 35 credits per page.
