Five principles for working with Loops
Blog post from Linear
Linear Loops lets teams automate recurring work with the Linear Agent through plain-language instructions that run on schedules or events, and its creator frames effective use as a practice in delegation. The recommended approach is to identify repetitive or easily overlooked tasks across individual and team workflows, begin with narrow, low-risk automations, and expand their scope only as results prove reliable. Loops can draw on current context from Linear workspaces and connected tools, including issues, code, documents, Slack conversations, ownership information, and on-call schedules, enabling uses such as security-vulnerability triage, deprecated-code cleanup, bug investigation, meeting preparation, and routing customer requests. Users can also ask the agent to diagnose and revise poorly performing loops, estimate outcomes before testing, and refine instructions through iteration. Because loops are visible and editable by teams or workspace administrators and can notify the appropriate people, the system is intended to support transparent, collaborative automation while leaving people responsible for deciding what to delegate and setting suitable constraints.
