Summary

LaunchDarkly has introduced a new AI SDK for Python and JavaScript as the recommended integration path for AgentControl, its production control plane for AI agents, while continuing support for existing SDKs and placing legacy Python and Node.js versions in maintenance mode. The SDK simplifies setup by consolidating provider routing, client initialization, metric collection, and optional tracing into a small set of packages and a single-call interface, reducing the need for custom telemetry, retry logic, provider glue, and tool loops. It includes first-party support for OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, and custom provider handlers, enabling runtime provider switching without deployment and compatibility with existing orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph and OpenAI Agents. New capabilities include executing multi-step agent graphs from one call, independently routing graph steps, attaching quality judges to individual steps, and deferring some evaluations off the request path to reduce user-facing latency. Developers can configure AgentControl, provide environment keys, use convenience functions or the more flexible config and invoke interfaces, and view metrics and traces in LaunchDarkly, with broader language support planned over time.
