An expedition for expeditious PR reviews
Blog post from LaunchDarkly
As coding agents accelerate development and increase pull request volume, LaunchDarkly’s Agent Platform team has sought ways to preserve review quality while reducing the time and attention each review requires. Recommended practices include having agents stage concise comments in pending GitHub reviews rather than posting them immediately, using GitHub suggestions for simple changes, editing or removing agent-generated feedback before submission, and creating draft follow-up PRs to implement broader requested changes directly. The text also highlights that rising PR activity creates a wider notification burden, finding an average of 13 notifications per approved PR in one repository, largely due to CODEOWNERS alerts for cross-cutting changes. Where mandatory ownership review is not required, teams may reduce unnecessary interruptions by replacing broad team notifications with alternatives such as round-robin CODEOWNER assignments that route each request to only one or two designated reviewers.
