Accessibility testing has long been a complex and time-intensive process, particularly around tab navigation and keyboard interactions. The introduction of the Keyboard Scan feature in Accessibility DevTools aims to simplify this process by enabling teams to conduct comprehensive keyboard accessibility testing with precision and ease. This semi-automated feature helps identify how a website responds to keyboard navigation, highlighting missing or unreachable elements and providing useful details such as Accessible Name, Role, and current state of each interactive item. The Keyboard Scan feature offers key benefits including automatic tab order highlighting, detailed information about interactive elements, the ability to review and add missed items, and the creation of detailed accessibility reports. Additionally, build-level accessibility reports have been launched, providing a big-picture view of accessibility across an entire build and enabling teams to stay organized and focus on fixing major issues first.
