Koyeb has announced a new networking stack that significantly enhances deployment speed, network performance, and reliability for its platform. This overhaul was driven by limitations encountered with their previous setup and seeks to optimize deployment speeds by replacing their old stack with a custom solution built on Envoy, Cilium, and eBPF, thereby reducing latency and increasing bandwidth. The new stack provides advanced features such as automatic load balancing, fully encrypted private networking, built-in observability, auto-healing, and automatic service discovery out-of-the-box, all while removing the sidecar model to process network tasks directly in the Linux kernel. The improvements include 70% faster deployments, with services going live within seconds, up to 10 Gb/s of bandwidth in the private network and the elimination of network configuration errors. This new stack is now live in all Koyeb regions, automatically benefiting all applications, and paves the way for future innovations in cloud-native applications.
