JFrog Artifactory Supports LuaRocks Hosting for NGINX, OpenResty and Kong

JFrog Artifactory’s native LuaRocks repository support allows organizations to replace direct reliance on public luarocks.org with a private, controlled registry for Lua packages used by NGINX/OpenResty and Kong. Using local repositories for internal rocks and custom Kong plugins, remote repositories to proxy and cache public packages, and virtual repositories to provide one unified endpoint, teams can improve build reliability, reduce repeated external downloads, and apply access controls across public and private dependencies. OpenResty deployments can consistently install cached or internally forked lua-resty modules, while Kong environments can publish, version, and distribute custom plugins through CI/CD rather than manually copying files. The approach brings Lua dependencies into the same governed software supply-chain model commonly used for ecosystems such as Maven, npm, NuGet, and Docker, reducing the operational risks of depending on an external registry for software running in production traffic paths.
