The Grails Plugin Has a New Home: Apache Grails - The JetBrains Blog
Blog post from JetBrains
The Grails plugin for IntelliJ IDEA has transferred from JetBrains to the Apache Grails project, placing its source code, development, releases, and Marketplace publishing under the oversight of the Apache Grails Project Management Committee. The plugin continues to provide Grails-specific coding assistance, GSP tooling, and GORM integration, while allowing its development schedule and compatibility updates to align directly with the Grails framework roadmap rather than IntelliJ IDEA release cycles. Build 262.0.0, supporting IntelliJ IDEA 2026.2, is already available, and existing users do not need to migrate because the plugin ID remains unchanged. However, beginning with IntelliJ IDEA 2026.2, the plugin is no longer bundled with IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate by default and must be installed from JetBrains Marketplace under the Apache Grails listing if needed. JetBrains will continue to host and feature the plugin on Marketplace, collaborate with the Grails team, and provide advance notice of relevant platform API changes.
