IntelliJ Scala Plugin 2026.3 Is Out!
Blog post from JetBrains
JetBrains’ Scala plugin 2026.3 adds Scala 3.10 support and improves Scala 3 analysis through more accurate extension-method resolution, contextual argument selection, and type inference, reducing false errors and duplicate completions. Twirl support for Play Framework has been extensively rewritten to improve parsing, mixed-language diagnostics, completion, formatting, reference resolution, Find Usages, and safe template renaming. Build-tool updates make separate sbt main and test modules mandatory, improve sbt 2.x, Scala CLI, and BSP imports and performance, restore dependency-coordinate completion, enhance macro recompilation behavior, and add Scala CLI script checks for executable shebang files. Debugging now supports additional breakpoint locations and fixes issues in Futures, for comprehensions, lazy values, and debugger UI responsiveness, while compiler-based highlighting reduces redundant compilations and better explains blocking module errors. Other additions include expanded X-Ray inferred-type details, Scala desugaring tools, compiled Scala 3 comparison views, and formatting fixes, while dedicated Ammonite and Fastpass integrations and the standalone IntelliJ Scala Bundle have been removed; internally, the plugin has also migrated to Scala 3.
