Google Summer of Code 2026 Is Here: Contribute to Kotlin | The Kotlin Blog
Blog post from JetBrains
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026 is offering an opportunity for students and eligible contributors to engage with the Kotlin Foundation by working on open-source projects over the summer. Participants can gain valuable production experience, mentorship from seasoned engineers, and a stipend while contributing to the Kotlin ecosystem. Projects available this year include developing a new fuzzer for the Kotlin compiler, creating a proof of concept for Swift-to-Kotlin interoperability, implementing tail call support in Kotlin/Wasm, and researching the global landscape of Kotlin education. Interested applicants are encouraged to explore project ideas, connect with mentors on Kotlin Slack, and submit their applications by March 31. Those not eligible for GSoC might consider the Kotlin Ecosystem Mentorship Program for other collaborative opportunities.
