Dynamics of Sentiment and Attitudes Toward AI Among Developers - The JetBrains Blog
Blog post from JetBrains
JetBrains Research reports a rapid rise in developers’ willingness to delegate software-development tasks to AI agents, with readiness to hand over application-logic coding increasing from 18% in April–June 2025 to 50% a year later, test writing from 50% to 75%, and refactoring from 38% to 60%. Developers remain more cautious about fully delegating code review and debugging, although acceptance is growing in both areas. Sentiment toward AI tools is also shifting, as 79% of respondents expect employers to require AI-development-tool proficiency, while concerns about reduced demand for professional developers and eventual full replacement of human coders have increased, particularly among frequent users of coding agents. The findings draw on JetBrains’ localized and statistically weighted Developer Ecosystem and AI Pulse surveys, covering coding-related roles worldwide.
