Debugging for .NET in VS Code and Cursor: The #1 Requested Feature Is Here - The JetBrains Blog
Blog post from JetBrains
The introduction of debugging support in the ReSharper extension for .NET development in VS Code-compatible editors marks a significant enhancement, addressing a long-standing request from users. This feature, released in version 2026.2, leverages the same core debugging engine as JetBrains Rider, bringing comprehensive debugging capabilities to environments like VS Code, Cursor, Google Antigravity IDE, Devin Desktop, and Kiro. This development allows users to manage breakpoints, inspect variables and expressions in real-time, and execute full step navigation, all within their preferred editor, effectively eliminating the need for separate IDEs for debugging. Additionally, ReSharper's integration provides seamless configuration and migration support, automatically creating debugger configurations and supporting manual setup through templates. Although VS Code permits only one extension for C# debugging, users can opt for ReSharper by disabling other extensions. The update invites feedback from the community to further refine and enhance the debugging experience.
