A New Agentic Experience: JetBrains Air in IDEs – EAP Now Open - The JetBrains Blog
Blog post from JetBrains
JetBrains has opened an Early Access Program for JetBrains Air, an agentic-development interface available as a Marketplace plugin or in JetBrains IDE 2026.3 EAP builds. Air is not an AI provider or preinstalled agent suite; instead, it connects developers with existing agents and subscriptions, including Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Claude Agent, Junie, Cursor, and other ACP-compatible tools. Designed for coordinating multiple agents in parallel, it organizes work into sessions that show activity, costs, changed files, and commits across projects, while offering IDE-based code review, debugging, profiling, database exploration, and semantic search capabilities to improve agent workflows. Developers can launch sessions with attached IDE context, use editor tabs, terminal interfaces, or graphical chat, run work locally or in the cloud, and isolate parallel changes through temporary worktrees. JetBrains says data is not sent anywhere unless an agent or AI plan is used, third-party provider data goes directly to that provider, and Air can be disabled as a plugin. AI Assistant remains supported separately, while JetBrains expects Air to become its primary agentic workflow experience and is offering limited free Junie Lite runs for everyday coding tasks.
