Ionic's Appflow, a mobile CI/CD solution, is adapting to the evolving mobile operating systems by updating its build stacks to ensure compatibility with the latest native binary build software. As part of this process, build stacks are supported for around two years before being retired; with the recent retirement of the macOS – 2020.11 and Linux – 2020.11 stacks, users must update their Appflow automations to avoid automatic updates to the latest build stack. The introduction of macOS – 2022.10 coincides with the release of iOS 16, offering support for updated tools like Xcode 14 and Node 18. Ionic encourages developers to utilize the latest build stacks while also maintaining older stacks to accommodate specific version requirements, with comprehensive documentation available for each active stack.
