I've reflected on my first year at Intercom and I can say that it's been an incredible journey. The company has grown and evolved, with new product features being launched and exciting projects being undertaken. I've had the opportunity to work on challenging projects, including a rewrite of our internal billing system and a ground-up rewrite of our message composer. I've also been able to collaborate with our sales and marketing teams, which has been really valuable in closing the feedback loop between product development and customers. Personally, I've changed roles within the company and am now working on ambitious projects as an engineering lead on our Platform team. This role requires me to think like a product owner and not just as an engineer solving a problem. The company culture is also fantastic, with regular fun events and activities that make coming to work a pleasure. Overall, I feel like I've been given the opportunity to grow and develop as an engineer and leader in a small, fast-growing company that's building something both necessary and ambitious.
