Docsferatu: an agent that drafts docs PRs while you sleep
Blog post from Inngest
Docsferatu is an automated documentation-drafting system that monitors SDK pull requests, determines whether public documentation needs updates, and opens draft documentation PRs when appropriate. Built with Inngest durable execution, it separates triage from drafting, uses debouncing and cancellation to handle bursts of commits and stale runs, records completed steps to avoid repeating costly model calls after failures, and polls long-running sandbox agents without keeping Cloudflare Workers active. The system isolates the AI agent from GitHub write credentials, restricts file access through a default-deny tool policy, removes potentially malicious instruction files from checked-out PRs, and runs validation in separate secret-free sandboxes before a worker commits any changes. Dependency snapshots keyed to the website lockfile reduce setup time for checks, while event coordination prevents redundant snapshot builds and race conditions. Early tests produced draft PRs for API and CI behavior changes within minutes, including validated examples and notes about unresolved assumptions, while correctly declining to create documentation changes for a behavior fix not reflected in existing docs; the project also collects reviewer feedback on triage decisions to improve its future accuracy.
