Telegraf Enterprise & Controller 1.2: Know Your Fleet's Security Exposure, Versions, and Health
Blog post from InfluxData
Telegraf Controller 1.2 expands centralized management, monitoring, and security oversight for Telegraf agent fleets, with security advisory scanning available in Telegraf Enterprise that compares published advisory version ranges against agent heartbeat data to identify affected systems, including in air-gapped environments through signed advisory imports. The release adds agent-level runtime metrics, warnings, errors, and recent logs through heartbeat reporting, helping operators investigate collection failures without host shell access, while new fleet visualizations summarize agent status, health, reporting recency, and version distribution. A heartbeat-service health indicator and API endpoint expose failures involving database connectivity, token caching, or scheduling before they create unexplained reporting gaps. Additional automation and networking enhancements include startup bootstrap owner tokens, reusable pre-shared API tokens across Controller instances, and support for reporting real agent IP addresses behind proxies. Telegraf Controller is also now distributed as an official Docker image, simplifying deployment with persistent storage and exposed web, API, and heartbeat ports.
