Multi-Cloud Certificate Management for AWS, Azure, and GCP
Blog post from Infisical
Cloud-native certificate services such as AWS Certificate Manager, Azure Key Vault, Google Cloud Certificate Manager, and Cloudflare tools automate certificate handling within their own platforms but do not provide visibility or coordination across multiple clouds, on-premises servers, and managed devices. This fragmentation can leave organizations relying on spreadsheets and manual renewal processes, a growing challenge as public TLS certificate lifetimes decline from 200 days to 100 days in March 2027 and 47 days in March 2029. Multi-cloud certificate management is presented as a centralized approach that inventories certificates, enforces common issuance policies, discovers unmanaged deployments, automates renewal and delivery to cloud services and Windows or Linux hosts, and verifies that endpoints serve updated certificates. Infisical describes its platform as connecting to public and private certificate authorities, using application-based certificate profiles and synchronization workflows for AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloudflare, and servers, while supporting device enrollment and renewal through SCEP and MDM integrations. The proposed implementation begins with discovering all TLS termination points, configuring issuance policies and destination syncs, migrating certificates shared across environments, enabling alerts, and testing renewal and failover workflows.
