Imply Lumi Virtual Tier is now generally available
Blog post from Imply
Imply has made Lumi Virtual Tier generally available for Lumi Cloud and Lumi Enterprise, allowing organizations to keep historical security data in low-cost object storage while retaining the ability to query it without archive restoration or permanently running infrastructure. The feature separates always-on Hot Tier compute for dashboards and detections from isolated, on-demand Virtual Compute pools for historical investigations, preventing resource contention and charging customers only while those pools run. Virtual Storage loads needed data into a transient cache without creating a second copy, while automatic routing sends queries entirely to Hot Compute or Virtual Compute depending on their time range. Users can continue using existing tools and query languages, including SPL, LogQL, and AI-agent integrations, across tiers. Available controls include configurable tiering policies, pool sizes and idle windows, multiple isolated pools, IAM-based routing and access restrictions, query timeouts, usage and billing metrics, custom Enterprise configurations, and elastic multi-cluster scaling. Imply plans to add compute instance families optimized either for lower-cost storage-heavy scans or higher-concurrency, lower-latency workloads, and the capability is enabled by default for new customers.
