Rebuilding AUTOMATIC1111 with Gradio Workflow
Blog post from Hugging Face
Workflow1111 is a Gradio Workflow implementation that recreates much of AUTOMATIC1111’s Stable Diffusion web UI as a 73-node canvas containing 11 interconnected media pipelines. It combines text-to-image generation, high-resolution refinement, image editing, LLM prompt expansion, visual-language-model interrogation, object detection and mask creation, prompt matrices, upscaling, background removal, ControlNet-like image annotators, PNG metadata handling, and image-to-video generation. The workflow uses four node types—local Python functions, remotely called models, Hugging Face Spaces, and dataset rows—and can run many independent branches in parallel while allowing substantial functionality to remain available offline through local functions. Users can access hosted models with their own Hugging Face credentials, connect the workflow to local GPUs or ZeroGPU functions, and automatically expose output nodes as typed REST APIs and MCP tools for agents and external applications. Positioned alongside ComfyUI, Gradio Workflow emphasizes browser-based deployment, OAuth-based user access, mixed-modality pipelines, reusable Python customization, and automatic API generation, while allowing developers to duplicate and modify the example or create workflows from simple bound Python functions.
