Webhooks aren't always JSON: Binary delivery and Node.js transforms in Event Gateway
Blog post from Hookdeck
Hookdeck’s Event Gateway now supports byte-for-byte delivery of binary webhook payloads, including audio, video, images, PDFs, archives, compressed data, serialization formats, and multipart form uploads, while preserving relevant headers and enabling retries and replays. Its updated transformation environment is Node.js-compatible, allowing developers to use built-in modules, asynchronous ES modules, and bundled npm packages to inspect, decompress, convert, validate, or generate payloads. Transformations can convert binary files into searchable JSON events or create outputs such as PNGs, WAV files, PDFs, SVG charts, CSVs, and signed webhook requests from JSON inputs. The platform includes demonstrations for Deepgram audio callbacks, delivery verification across 30 content types, and six file-generation examples, while imposing transformation limits of one second, 20 MiB for processable binary bodies, and no network or filesystem access.
