Honeycomb Metrics modernizes the use of metrics for debugging cloud-native distributed systems
Blog post from Honeycomb
Honeycomb has announced Honeycomb Metrics, a new feature designed to enhance the capabilities of its observability software by integrating traditional metrics-based monitoring with modern event-driven observability. This addition allows users to streamline their troubleshooting processes by offering a unified interface that correlates application-level events with system-level metrics, thus simplifying the identification and resolution of complex performance issues. By supporting various metrics formats, including OpenTelemetry, StatsD, Prometheus, and Amazon CloudWatch, Honeycomb Metrics enables engineering teams to transition more seamlessly from legacy monitoring tools to contemporary observability practices. This feature not only lowers the entry barrier for new users but also allows existing customers to maximize their technology investments by reducing the need for multiple third-party tools. Honeycomb Metrics, currently in open beta for Enterprise customers, offers usability enhancements and suggested queries that facilitate efficient data visualization and analysis, thereby improving instrumentation and system reliability with minimal effort.
