Secure AI Coding with Harness + Cursor | Harness Blog
Blog post from Harness
Harness’s Secure AI Coding beta integrates its SAST and software composition analysis capabilities into the Cursor IDE to scan AI-generated code as it is created or edited, rather than waiting for pull requests or CI pipelines. Using Cursor post-edit hooks, diff-aware scans, and Code Property Graph analysis, the product aims to identify context-aware, exploitable vulnerabilities, present findings inline, and support an automated fix-and-revalidation loop. Harness argues that this approach makes security enforcement continuous and less dependent on developer behavior while preserving development speed. Planned additions include pre-generation security guardrails, dependency scanning before installation and after manifest changes to prevent risky open-source packages, and post-edit secrets detection. Available through the Harness IDE extension for Cursor, the offering is positioned as a shift from reactive application security toward preventing insecure code from progressing beyond the developer environment.
