Summary

Harness has introduced a connector for OpenAI that integrates CI/CD delivery context from Harness directly into ChatGPT and Codex CLI, allowing users to investigate pipeline executions, review failures, inspect configurations, and perform supported pipeline actions without switching tools. Through OAuth authentication, the connector operates using each signed-in user’s existing Harness permissions, with no additional access granted by the AI integration and separate approval requirements for requested changes. Users can query recent executions, diagnose failed steps, request proposed pipeline updates, and, where enabled, create, update, delete, or execute resources, subject to licensing, permissions, exposed tools, and client settings. The integration is available through ChatGPT on desktop, web, and mobile as well as through Harness Hosted MCP in Codex CLI, with separate authentication flows for the two environments. Setup requires a Harness SaaS account with OAuth enabled and an OpenAI workspace that permits the integration, while organizations using SAML or OIDC may need additional administrator configuration.
