Harness Launches VegaLoad: Open-Source Load Testing for Agentic Developers | Harness Blog
Blog post from Harness
Harness has launched VegaLoad, a free Apache 2.0-licensed open-source load-testing tool designed for developers using AI agents. Built by Harness’s Resilience Testing team, VegaLoad allows an agent to create test files alongside application code, run them locally or in CI/CD pipelines, and return pass-or-fail results with offline HTML reports. The lightweight cross-platform binary supports 14 protocols, including HTTP, gRPC, Kafka, databases, messaging systems, and TCP/UDP, while offering configurable thresholds for latency, error rates, and checks that can block pull requests or deployments. Its safety model permits unrestricted localhost testing but requires approval for other hosts, with audit logs retained locally. VegaLoad includes an MCP server and integrations for Cursor and Claude Code, reflecting Harness’s aim to make load testing more accessible, code-adjacent, reviewable, and automated as AI-generated software accelerates delivery. Harness positions VegaLoad alongside the open-source chaos-engineering project LitmusChaos, while offering its commercial Resilience Testing platform for teams requiring distributed load generation, shared histories, and integrated resilience probes.
