Introducing Gumloop's Model Router
Blog post from Gumloop
Gumloop has launched Model Router, an Auto mode for all agents that automatically selects an AI model and reasoning level based on each task’s complexity, aiming to reduce the need for users to understand a rapidly changing model landscape. The company says users often default to expensive frontier models even for routine work, creating unnecessary costs without improving results. In an internal test, Gumloop’s support agent reportedly saw its monthly cost fall from more than $67,000 to $7,000, an approximately 89% reduction, while maintaining output quality. Model Router can choose efficient open-weight models such as DeepSeek V4 Flash or GLM-5.3-Flash for simpler tasks and models including Grok 4.6, Claude Opus 5, or GPT-6 Astra for more demanding work, with the ability to switch to a stronger model during a run if needed. The feature is available to all Gumloop users through the Auto option in the model picker.
