In 2021, the discontinuation of Phabricator left a significant gap in the developer tool space, as many tech teams had relied on its unique code review workflows. Phabricator's approach, which emphasized flexible draft changes, peer feedback before merging, and controlled releases, fostered a collaborative environment that encouraged innovation and minimized the pressure for immediate perfection. However, with the platform no longer maintained, there is a need to recreate its principles using modern tools. Graphite emerges as a viable alternative, offering an integrated platform that combines coding, reviewing, and deployment processes, thereby minimizing context switching and improving workflow efficiency. Graphite's features, such as stacked pull requests and interactive reviews, maintain Phabricator's core philosophies while leveraging integrations with contemporary tools like GitHub and VS Code to enhance productivity and transparency. This transition allows teams to retain the collaborative and iterative strengths of Phabricator's system while benefiting from modern technological advancements.
