New in Grafana Tanka: Customize Helm charts without modifying them

Grafana Tanka introduces a new method for customizing Helm charts without directly modifying them, addressing the inflexibility associated with traditional Helm chart customization, which relies on values that can't anticipate every user's needs. By utilizing the Jsonnet language, a superset of JSON that understands data semantics, Tanka allows users to deeply merge their own overrides without altering the upstream definitions. This innovation combines the comprehensive ecosystem of Helm with the advanced capabilities of Tanka, now including Helm support that enables loading Helm charts into Jsonnet as JSON objects. This approach simplifies the process of making customizations by allowing users to pass values directly from Jsonnet and easily overwrite fields not covered by values, thereby enhancing configuration management for Kubernetes environments.
